A Trip to the Seaside

We decided that we would have an afternoon off from unpacking and DIY, we walked the Alpacas around the boundary this morning just to keep them in training with there harnesses, brought in more boxes from the barn made some decisions on were shelves could go in the utility room, a quick lunch then off to the seas side.
We headed to Aberporth, it was an overcast day but still warm
It was a lovely drive there along twisty turny roads
A lovely beach awaited us and it was so calm and peaceful.
Aberporth is known as a good look out point for Bottle Nose Dolphins, this was the only dolphin we saw today, all carved out of one tree, it was fantastic.
We happily settled down with fish and chips and enjoyed the views.
We then headed on to Llangarnog which is the nearest beach to us 30 miles away
Another beautiful little cove and very peaceful,
Llangarnog beach has lots of sea caves
 And some stunning rock structures
The tide was rapidly on the turn, the area in well know for seals and there pups, something we will investigate further another time.
Before leaving for home we popped into this little place Caffi Patio to sample some home made ice cream.

They had a vast array of flavours, hubby settled for Key Lime Pie and I had Peanut Butter, defiantly worth a visit and we shall return many times to sample some more of there delicious flavours.
It was lovely having an afternoon out and seeing some of our local area.

  1. Having the sea thirty miles away is so manageable for an afternoon frolic. Is there any fishing from there?

  2. As the tide was turning there were a few fellas heading down with there rods, I know of a few who have fished for mackeral along the Cardigan bay stretch

  3. We have to go about 50 miles to our favourite bit of the coast (to see water I could just go to the nearby Thames and imagine it upstream though!) I love the sea air and find it all very therapeutic.

Do you spin your Alpaca fibre by itself or do you card it in with something else? I only ever bought it as Tops and I can't recall how long the staples are.

Could eat one of those ice-creams right now!

  4. A well earned break, the beach looks beautiful. I could never live far from the sea having grown up surrounded by it in Cornwall, 30 miles seems so far to me! xx

  6. What a weird coincidence, as I was looking through a box of photos today ( our eldest wants to make a family tree thing for her wedding) and came across pictures of Llangrannog and Aberporth as well as Tresaith , we've had loads of holidays on the coast there all lovely beaches and tucked away coves. Here we are only 4 miles as the crow flies from the sea but rarely go there, grey sea and shingle beach is just no fun

  10. Have spent a while looking through many of your useful posts this morning Dawn and happened across this one. We went to the very same cafe on the day we fetched the boys back from the Urdd weekend. Jon and I said we could see ourselves going to Llangrannog for the weekend! We had choritzo and cheese baguettes, yummy but had to wrap some up for the boys as the portion for each of us was mahooosive! We also had ice cream. I enjoyed the peanut butter one but wouldn't have it again as it was a tough too sweet for me.
