A Day of Allsorts

The day started off dull and overcast but still warm, but as the day went on it was blue sky and sunshine, so it was outside to get all the glass panes we had into the greenhouse, we need another 22 panes so we have taken the sizes and plan to get some cut tomorrow. Then I can get the greenhouse all finished and in use.
Next on the list for today was to get the small poly tunnel we brought with us covered and set into the ground, its only a small tunnel but is very useful, once again we covered the ground with membrane as it is going to be gravel,
The cage at the front is stop inquisitive chickens and Alpacas, once the tunnel was completed I move the Blueberries in they are laden with fruit and the birds will have a feast if I let them
I also moved the Chilli's and Peppers in we have some young fruit come along on them
The tomato's were next to be moved under cover
These are the James Wong black tomato's
These are the hanging basket ones.
Everything is needing a good feed, tomorrow I must go through the boxes of greenhouse things and find the feeds, poor plants they have had a rough couple of weeks.
We are harvesting courgettes and new potatoes all grown in containers, later this week I want to get some mixed salad leaves on the go, I have some wicker baskets that I bought for the job.
I was using hubby today to do lots of little jobs before he heads back to work tomorrow, shelves have been put up in the utility room, so I have a bit more storage space, door bells are now up, he kindly did the washing and cooked dinner this evening, his first taste at cooking on the Rayburn, he is now down the field trying to bag some pigeons.
I have made a start at clearing one of the areas at the back of the house will post the later, I want to get some of the plants in that I brought with me.
Time for a shower now then sit and relax with some knitting.
I hope you have all had a good day with sunshine.

  2. Wow you have been busy!! So much growing already. I have never heard of or seen a black tomato before, I have had some very dark red almost purple ones, but never as dark as the one that you showed. It will be interesting to know that they taste like. xx

  4. Do you know we recently took down a 8 x 6 greenhouse in good condition (it was unsafe for our disabled son to go in because of all the glass and he had to step over door lip) but no-one wanted it-not even on freecycle! We ended up taking it to recycling centre.

Husband currently building something more suitable - greenhouse come summerhouse

    1. That is such a shame I thought it would have been snapped up. I hope some-one at the re-cycling center could make use of it. I have never bought a new greenhouse they are just so expensive, my first I bought second hand £10 buyer dismantles and the second one we added to it was a give away again we had to dismantle it, they both served us for over 10 years, this one has cost about £170 in glass and parts but still worth it as it is big and I couldnt have got a new one of that size for anywere near that price
