Little Miss Princess Kara

We have still been making regular trips to the vets for bandages and dressings changed and Kara is still on antibiotics, Monday she had her stitches out good girl just lay there and let the vet get on with it, I was due to take her back tomorrow for a dressing change, this morning she gave me a bit of a scare she was limping very badly and reluctant to put her foot down, I phoned the vet and he said bring her straight down, he took the dressings off and like me expected to see an infection but no, it was healing lovely, the problem was her dew claw, it was being compressed with the bandages and causing her discomfort.
the decision was made to leave the dressings off and she now has a lovely little miss princess sock to wear in the house held on with a hair bobble, and to stop her maudlin it she has a bone to keep her distracted.
She has to be house/garden confined for the next few weeks and wear the rubber boot when outside, he wants as little pressure as possible on the foot as the new skin forming over the amputation area is very delicate.
Kara is overjoyed at getting the bandages off and now only has a slight limp which we think is just her being cautious after having all the padding on her foot for 12 days.
We don't have to return now until Monday, thank goodness I am so pleased there is no infection I was all ready to hear bad news this morning.

  6. Dads dog had to be confined to the office for a couple of months and only let out with supervision when she dug in a left over fire and burnt all her paws. Dad and my brother cleaned the wounds and put cream on three times a day and the vet was really impressed with how fast it had healed. She's an old dog though and it seems she's loosing sense like we all do as we get older.
Glad yours is doing a bit better. Nothing like a dog for company.
