Battening Down The Hatches

We are forecast to get some really high winds early hours of the morning and throughout tomorrow as hurricane Gonzalo passes through, I am signed up for weather alerts with the met office for the Carmarthen area this is the alert I got today

Yellow Warning of Wind for Wales : Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Powys, Wrexham, Ceredigion, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Rhonnda Cynon Taff, Torfaen, Bridgend, Newport, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, Swansea & Pembrokeshire valid from 0010 Tue 21 Oct to 1800 Tue 21 Oct

So I have been out this afternoon making sure everything is secure, torches are at the ready and plenty of candles are at hand, plenty of logs are in.  last week with the high winds we kept getting power cuts, phone lines are dodgy round here during any storms as well,
On the home front our fencing was started today yippee
Fence posts have been set, two lovely gentlemen have been working away all day, digging holes mixing cement and setting posts along the boundary
The fencing supplies were delivered and unloaded all waiting to be put together.

The postie brought me a surprise package today, a friend who has been getting organised was making Christmas puds last week as there is only me who eats them she made me a small one.

We have had family visiting for the past few days, my daughter and granddaughters it was there first visit here, unfortunately the weather wasn't its most favourable but it didn't stop the girls enjoying themselves.
It was lovely to see them and see the girls having some fun, Kara didn't know what to make of it all, she was really good with the children, her favourite was the youngest at 14 months old who left a lovely crumb and tit bit trail for Kara to hoover up.

I did get another batch of brown sugar made up
I needed some for biscuits I was making, it works out a lot cheaper to make my own
I have a previous post here explaining how to make brown sugar Brown Sugar

Hope you all stay safe tonight and tomorrow in the storms.

  3. We survived a really rough night, glass blown out in the greenhouse wooden garden furniture was a tangled mess in front of the door this morning, all in all no real damage Kara was barking most of the night at every bang and crash so we are both really tired this morning, we have just walked up the drive checked on neighbours all ok and trees down, :-)

  4. What a dear little pudding. And nice to read that Kara is settling in and being spoiled by even the youngest member of the family.
