Yes our latest additions have arrived,
Our two girls, they are Tamworth Gloucester Old Spot crosses and are 4 months old.
They are so cute, they soon got to work and started digging up there run, its there first time outside.
It didn't take them long to learn about the electric fence and within half and hour they were not going near it.
They investigated there bedroom, found the food trough and water, settled down for a snooze in the sun.
The chickens showed no interest in the piggies but the Alpacas did not know what to make of them, they came galloping up the field stopping short of the pig area by about 20feet and set off alarm calls, the alarm call from the Alpacas is a high pitched whistle that they make through there nose, they kept it up for some time, wandered away for a while and then came back repeating the same routine most of the day.
I have done a short video of it and will put it up tomorrow.
This evening we popped down the beach at Llanstephan had dinner at the Castle Inn, it was a busy pub, very friendly and the food was good, a group of people started playing the guitar and bongos and there was an impromptu sing along, very pleasant atmosphere, we then took a walk along the sands and did a bit of beach foraging, cockles and winkles hubby is preparing them now.
The animals are all in bed and the piggies are curled up together in the straw, the Alpacas are down the other end of the field keeping there distance.

Pigs are just behaving like its all old school to them, the Alpacas just dont know what to make of it all.
DeleteThe girls are lovely, I hope they get their temperament from the Gloucester side as Tamworths can be a bit snitty. I am looking forward to seeing the Alpaca's reaction tomorrow.

DeleteDawn, congratulations on the new arrivals! That is so exciting. The lady we bought Polly from had just recently gotten some Gloucestershire Old Spots and was planning to raise them along with the American Guinea Hogs. They are pretty rare in the southeast US and she had to travel some distance to get them. I think they would be my second choice for pigs. Let the pig adventures begin!
