After doing the feed rounds this morning I decided to re-introduce the two boys to each other again,
The boys were separated just over a year ago after they had some nasty fights,
They were castrated in October, firstly I am not looking to breed and we want the alpacas to live together as a herd, also we are hoping castration means they calm down with reduced testosterone and they can live together again.
There was a few stand offs and a bit of screaming at each,
otherwise so far so good.
Daisy who has appointed herself as head of the herd, led the girls away, then came up to the fence to see what the boys were arguing about, she soon decided its not worth bothering about and wandered off to join the girls grazing.
At afternoon feed time both boys headed to there own shelters for there feed.
Next step is bring the girls into the mix.
The postie brought me a pressie today
My eldest daughter sent me these bulbs to plant on Daffodils grave.
I got a few jobs ticked off my list today, goats all cleaned out and there run now has a deep layer of straw, in readiness for the cold spell.
The weather well the rain arrived, I got soaked through three times,
It seems to have passed over now,
they are forecasting snow through the week, at least every were will look clean and bright with some snow instead of brown mud.
The males always sound like they are murdering each other, don't they?

ReplyDeleteThe only time they make a noise is when they are arguing or alarm calling when something is afoot, the rest of the time they just hum
DeleteI do love alpacas. There is a field locally that has a herd of about twelve in. Such a stunning colour range to their fleeces from cream through to dark brown. Not sure I would like to look after them though.

DeleteBrilliant final shot on your video!! Glad the boys have settled down together now (more or less) - when you can mix them with the girls too, you have one less problem to deal with. What a thoughtful gift from your daughter.
