Daughter Update

Thank you all for the well wishes and comments.
Just a quick update, she was having an operation on the wound yesterday afternoon, unfortunately the surgeon couldn't close the wound, she was sent home last night and has to return to hospital Monday morning were they will look at either a skin graft or growing some skin to close the wound, its going to be a bit of long haul, either way she will be left with scarring and an indentation on her thigh, she cant drive an extra pressure on her husband, just as well he has just started working for us so is able to take time off work.
She has now reported the incident to the police.

  1. Oh dear it sounds as though it is going to be a long haul, poor girl, you must be worried to death.

Thank goodness she has reported the incident, that definitely needed to be done.

    Well wishes to your daughter

  2. Yes, it needed reporting, a vicious dog like this needs sorting out, just imagine what it would be like if your daughter had been 4 or 5 years old?

  3. At least there is a plan of action in place. I hope that the scarring is not too bad, I bet that she has good legs as well. Let us hope that the police take some positive action.

  4. Goodness me - poor lass! You must all be so upset and worried. Well done for reporting it to the police, but do keep on top of them in case it gets passed by.

Hope she gets swift and expert attention, how awful for you all.

  5. I'm so sorry about what happened to your daughter. Has the dog been taken into custody? Over here that would be automatic. The hospital would have reported it to bylaw officers, the dog taken and would have to undergo behaviour assessment. There would be a very hefty charge and fine as well. I know things are different over there but as she was doing her job her employer should be liable for all her lost wages. I hope things go well with the impending surgery.

  6. I had to get caught up on this alarming event. I think the dog owners response was extremely in adequate, not to mention negligent. I'm assuming dog owner's insurance is paying for all this?

  7. Glad that you daughter is OK even if the treatment is going to be ongoing for a while, and I do hope that something is done about the dog, after all it could have been a child that the dog bit.

  8. Oh Dawn, that really is a horrible wound. I'm glad she reported it, a dog that can do this need to be euthanised, it could have killed a child.
I hope that her wound heals quickly with no complications.

  9. I'm glad the police are aware I hope they follow it through. I would be very angry too at the way things have developed.

  11. I'm glad that your daughter has reported the incident to the police. Yuk... that bite looks nasty, I bet it hurts like billy-oh. As you say, it's a good job your son-in-law works for you so will be available to transport your daughter about, but not so good is that it affects your business. Still, it's your daughters' well being that matters. I'm still amazed at the dog owners lack of compassion and guilt - even if the event took place on private property. Keeping you all in my thoughts. xx CMW

  12. I'm glad it's been reported to the police, it looked such a nasty wound I hope it heals nicely for her, it sounds a lot more serious now if skin grafts are being talked about. Take care x

  15. I'm glad it's been reported to the police, the dog will most likely go on to bite someone else and next time it could be a young child who's face would be at the level your daughters leg was :-(

I hope she is soon feeling better and that the treatment goes to plan.
