The day started full of sunshine, I was up at 5am didn't sleep well I spent the night mulling things over, watching the sun come up across the valley was fantastic and very relaxing.
Two loads of washing done making the most of the fine weather, animals fed and watered I got started making some fruit sauce to go with the yogurt that was made yesterday.
Very easy to do, puree 2 cups of fruit pop it in a saucepan add half a cup of sugar bring to a simmer on a medium heat and simmer for about 10 mins, stirring occasionally, you don't want it to boil.
when cool pour into portion size containers
These little pots will hold about about 3 servings, I made a sauce with blueberries, it can be frozen or will keep for about a week in the fridge.
can also be served warm.
I also got some corn on the cob blanched and packed for the freezer
very easy to do again, drop into a pan of boiling water and boil for 5 mins, have a boil of freezing cold water ready and then drop the corn into the cold water for 5 mins drain and package.
This afternoon the animals were having a siesta in the sunshine
The pigs are really coming on they will have to be moved again at the week end as they have turned over the ground they are on.
The ducklings are starting to lose there fluffiness as there feathers are starting to come through, the are growing at a good rate. It wont be long now until they can free range the field I did let them out today but the Alpacas were not having it and rounded them back into there area
Until they are bigger and can fend for themselves I extended there run area as the Alpacas just kept trying to round them up.
That just about sums my day up today :-)
It all looks like a proper smallholding already! Can't believe you been there for such a short amount of time!

DeleteThe sauce looks very tasty. We were at a garden centre yesterday - didn't buy anything as it was just an outing. I saw a blueberry bush (small) and it was £25! Olive trees - also small - were £50. The day before we'd seen one the same size and covered with olives for £10 in B & Q
