And Another Day In The Kitchen

2 days on the row in the kitchen,
I had some Strawberries from a local supplier for jam, ours wont produce enough for jam until next year as they are newly planted this year.
 
 With the fruit weighed out and in the pan
 There was enough left over for a bowl of strawberries and cream for me
 10 jars of jam to add to the cupboard that will do us until next years season, along with the Rhubarb and Ginger, Wild Violet Jelly and I found some raspberries in the freezer they are being turned into jam this morning, the only other jam I  will make this year is Blackberry end of of summer time.
 Next up was seeded loaf, and a couple of Malt fruit loaves, sticking to my nice easy recipe that I came across.
 Then this fruit thingy, its basically a big long fruit pastie, I found a tub of mixed fruit in the freezer from last year, it had, Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackcurrants and Blackberries, along with a pack of puff pastry, simple roll out pastry lay on the fruit sprinkle a bit of sugar, fold up brush with egg and I sprinkled on date sugar before it went in the oven, it has been sliced up a couple of portions for Martin to take back and the rest we will have at the week end. 
I wanted to get last years fruit all used up before the new seasons fruit start coming into the kitchen.
will have another rummage in the freezer to check there is none lurking at the bottom.

We have a busy week-end coming up, new garden furniture is arriving, lambs and goats to be wormed, chimney to be swept, Alpacas to be sheared and we are planning a day out at the game fair at Pembury park.
Yeah also we remove the netting off the doves this week end.

My roses n the garden are coming on great and filling the air with there fragrance here are a few of them.




That's it for today lots to do so must crack on.

  2. I just love homemade strawberry jam. Used to make a lot of jams, but as I'm diabetic now I don't make as much as hubby doesn't eat a lot of it. Always useful for presents though.

  5. I do so wish that I liked fresh strawberries but I just can't abide them. Now strawberry jam on the other hand...yum....on freshly baked scones with clotted cream. I don't make my own any more though as we don't eat enough of it.

  6. Nice looking roses that's for sure. We never have fruit left over. In fact we rarely get to use it ourselves as my son manages to eat it all before we can even pick it.

  9. Your roses ate beautiful especially the pale yellow one. The malt loaves look yummy. Ww were rained off this morning and I did dome baking too.

  13. Busy busy busy as always. I will be making some strawberry jam next week, it is my favourite. The roses look lovely, mine are a teensy bit waterlogged but today should help, the sun is shining already.
