A Day Of Sorting

Do you ever get a day when all you want to do is sort and organise, well that was me today from waking, firstly it was my big walk in wardrobe in the bedroom, I went through everything and all that got thrown out was 3 old mishapen jumpers, I dont do Martins wardrobe he is a big boy and can sort his own clothes out.
Next was the garden shed, all the gardening stuff was put in there but not sorted all the pots and trays were still in bags I emptied out the shed, moved in a couple of old units from the shop that were going to be dismantled down
Now it is all organised and I can find stuff, what got thrown out two broken plant trays and empty bags, it was all gone through before moving so I didnt expect there to be lots of rubbish
Next it was the greenhouse, it was tidy anyway so I pruned some bits of the citrus trees and gave them  a feed.
I find the citrus trees do better with winter feed and summer feed rather than an all rounder, the winter feed they get monthly and its a maintenance feed, the summer feed helps with the production of fruit and builds the plants up and its feed weekly. I switch the feeds when the clocks change.
The orange tree is coming into flower
The lemon tree still has lemons
A coupe f the trees need moving into larger pots this year, I trimmed up the geraniums that share the citrus pots, some of the trimmings I cut down for cuttings,
The potatoes are under the benches chitting, I always keep watering cans full of water in the greenhouse so its at the right temperature for watering, I haven't heated the greenhouse at all, I tried a paraffin heater but didn't like it, so there is only bubble wrap giving some insulation from the elements. Everything seems to be doing ok out there, all ready now for the new growing season.

  1. Envious of your lemon tree! I saw them growing in gardens when we were in Italy last spring and was amazed they did so well so far North. But then, Italy does have very hot summers.

It feels good to get organized doesn't it? Now we have most of our rads working again (6 still aren't), I can get in the Junk Room (where our stock lives) and have a good sort out.

  2. How wonderful that you have your own fresh lemons too! You are so self sufficient, I am in awe of you! I know that it takes an awful lot of work though and I am amazed how you do it all for the most part on your own. xx

  3. Thanks for the citrus tip, my plants are small but the extra feeds would help growth. I have been in tidy mode for weeks, it feels good at the end of each day.
