A Bit of Field Work

A bit of field maintenance work has been needed in the Alpaca area.
First all broken branches needed clearing
There were branches that were broken off in storms
And branches that were damaged but still attached,
all branches and trees need to be made safe,
so we don’t end up with damaged fences or get injured ourselves with fallen branches
then its on to the poo picking,
it all gets loaded into the muck spreader

The chains are next, to loosen up the moss and loosen up the surface then the new spring grass will be off to a flying start.

I had a lesson on using the muck spreader today.
We are spreading the muck on the field we hope to cut for hay this coming year.
That big 74lb pumpkin I grew this year was enjoyed by the pigs,
it didnt take long for them to demolish it.
Tess enjoyed Christmas day on the beach
As did Sol, we expect this to be his last Christmas,
Sol is having health issues and the outcome is not good.
In the meantime life goes on
and the two of them enjoy each others company and enjoy trips out.

  1. There is a limit to how long outdoors folk can bear to be cooped up inside over Christmas, so glad that you were out and doing before long. Plus you have learned a new skill (I wouldn't stand in your way with that one!!)

Glad both the dogs enjoyed their time at the beach, and although it is sad to think that it will probably be Sol's last Christmas there, you have given him such a wonderful retirement and he is still enjoying life.

  2. So sorry to hear that Sol is not well, but it's good to see him enjoying the beach with Tess.. They have good lives with you, which is evident by the photographs. Enjoy the time you have left with him.
Wishing you all the best for 2019.

  3. Lovely to see the 2 dogs at the beach. Thinking of Sol, what a loving home he has had with you and continues to have with you now. Love the updates of your fields etc.

  5. Always sad when you can see a much-loved dog coming towards the end of it's life - mine is the same - she is almost eleven - not old for the breed but she too has health issues. Happy New Year to you.
